Construction Update V2 - York Road, Leamington Spa
Unity Architects’ conservation project on York Road, Leamington Spa, is now mid-programme. The building form is taking shape and the sense of space is tangible.
The solid and void interplay is now legible within the rear façade.
A meandering journey is becoming established, as you move through, around and within the proposed spaces.
The 440mm thick ‘garden wall’ is standing confidently, awaiting installation of the structural glazing. This wall frames a key vista between the original dining space within the host dwelling and private rear garden space.
The client has selected a facing brick with life, texture and colour variation. This will juxtapose beautifully with a clean internal palette.
Even in its unfinished state, with scaffolding boards in place, daylight penetrates the deep plan spaces successfully.
The spatial generosity is clear, in footprint and volume. The creation of a new, defining space as part of the ground floor programme is not in doubt.
The private client is elated with progress thus far and we are all energised to witness the realisation of the original architectural vision over the coming months.
